MARKING MOCKS? YES! LIMITED OFFER!

I'm a current examiner for CIE and find myself with a few spare days over half term when I could mark some CIE English Language iGCSE 0500 (higher tier) mock exams. How would you like me to mark your child's practice papers so you can get some encouragement and last-minute tips? Well, this is one of those rare chances! Costs are £20 for one paper (that is, Paper 2 or Paper 3), or £30 for 2 papers (could be 2 x Paper 2, or 2 x Paper 3, or one each of Paper 2 and Paper 3). NOTE: I don't mark Paper 1. The only limitations are: Your child is taking the exam THIS autumn (if you're taking it in the Spring, please wait) Only a maximum of two papers per student You can choose which papers you sit as long as they're summer 2015 or later.  Don't submit any papers that the student has already practised, or the results will be skewed. Check Xtreme Papers for numerous versions you could use. Contact me on the blogger form ASAP to receive further details, ...

Back By Popular Demand

Returning for January 2017, the weekly crammer course is making an appearance again. Running on Mondays at 1 pm from the 16th of January, it spreads the 8 sessions over a longer period of time. We're also running the Easter crammer as usual -- eight straight days starting the 10th of April, at 7:30 pm. Either one is £80 to get tutored in person by the author who wrote the book "How to Ace the CIE iGCSE English Language exam." The basis for both it and the Easter crammer will be last summer's exam, so if you're revising on your own already, you might want to avoid doing that one so you come to it fresh.

August Crammer -- au revoir -- next one is Easter

I've just closed the window on the last live webinar for the August crammer course. The students have been inundated with Dos and Don'ts from examiner's reports, mark schemes, and my own experience on "the other side". Even before the week had ended, people were asking when I'm next offering the course. That would be the Easter holidays next year, 2017. Easter is really late this year, so a crammer at that point will really be the final polishing before exams start in May. If you want to get a head start on what to study, then buy my revision guide: there are plenty of examples there of good practice, tips for revision, and ways to improve your writing in advance of taking the crammer. Buy it here from Amazon, either as a Kindle book or paperback:  http://tinyurl.com/hr8bmyl What would it add to your child's study to attend the crammer if you've got the book? New examples, for one. A chance to have homework and questions marked by me, with my e...

CIE Results are in, and Dreaming Spires students are over the moon!

Today is the annual rite of GCSE results, and I've felt such a part of it after receiving all the lovely emails from students who took the Dreaming Spires crammer course earlier in the year. Below is just a small sample of their effusive reports, but remember that I'm teaching my online crammer again from 22nd of August (7 pm). As always, I'll be sharing all the tips and tricks from being a current examiner. If you can't make the live course, then you can get the next-best thing by buying my course book here: https://www.amazon.co.uk/English-Language-iGCSE-version-Higher-ebook/dp/B01E42XQK0/ref=sr_1_fkmr2_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1460534833&sr=8-2-fkmr2&keywords=how+to+ace+the+gcse+english+language+exam *************** “E” did your English revision course at Easter, just letting you know she got an A*.
